What a great night, last night. One more day to go until the end of the quarted and it could get interesting just on that alone but Janet Yellen certainly pushed the doves amongst the hawks last night with her great speech. The speech tells you everything you need to know about Fed policy, what the FOMC and the Fed is thinking and it's also responsible for the USD getting hammered last night.

It hasn't really been an eventful break, it has been fairly quiet but there has been some really interesting movements in the data from the US and what that might mean for Janet Yellen's really important speech at 3:30am (Sydney Time) tomorrow morning.

It's been a very interesting night overnight with some very important comments from the Fed that muddy the water a little bit for those that think the Fed is being extremely dovish.

After all the catalysts for movement over the past weeks with central banks and other data, it's going to be a much quieter week. We've got GDP Revision later on in the week, a ZEW survey in Germany and Bullard, the most aggressive of the hawks, where we'll see if his 'road to Damascus' moment of becoming more dovish is going to continue or if after the Fed's message last week he will be back on his hawkish bent.

Video: Weekly Outlook - 21 Mar

The US$ made a partial recovery on Friday following the FOMC inspired selloff. The week ahead will begin to thin out as we approach Easter so we could see some exaggerated moves. The major focus will be on the German IFO and ZEW, both due on Tuesday and the global PMIs and the US Durable Goods Orders on Thursday. Note that both the US and Japan will be open on Good Friday and will release the CPI and GDP respectively. Technically the US$ still looks a little heavy
